You're going to screen people on the basis that you subjectively think they sound similar to someone who has trolled the meme? I understand the intent, but that honestly comes across as not that different from screening comments you don't like. Who decides to begin trolling meme by looking up and posting about info about goaltending stats? I'd understand if it was contentless insults or shitstirring, but screening a factual correction to someone else's incorrect info in the context of an argument about stats? You could at least just freeze it if you were worried about it devolving into wank/actual trolling. Honestly, the highhandedness of the modding is probably a reason why mod interventions on this meme attract trolls.

Yes, we're going to screen people if they sound like the troll, because not screening those comments tends to create trolling momentum, and instead of screening one comment, we have to contain a much larger trolling effort. We have always screened the troll(s) to the best of our ability, and that means subjectively assessing whether or not someone sounds like them, because we simply do not have the tools to identify anyone by automated or objective means.

Meme participants can offer factual corrections and player criticism without sounding like the troll, and those would not be and have never been screened.

We have found screening plus turning on IP logging to be the best solution to a suspected troll effort in our two years of running this meme. That's exactly what I did.

This meme attracts trolls because there are trolls who like to use hockey anon memes for their own ends, full-stop, and we have done a better job limiting their activities and preserving a workable discussion space than previous hockey anon memes. There is no perfect solution but we are absolutely doing our best to limit abuse while maintaining a discussion space for the fandom.

How are meme participants supposed to read your minds to determine what you think sounds like "the troll" and what doesn't? What kind of "trolling momentum" is going to be created by factually verifiable information on goaltending stats?

I understand that you did not like the call, but I'm not going to debate it or the underlying logic of the policy, which has been in place for almost the entire existence of this meme, for the rest of the night.

The vast majority of people on this meme manage to state verifiable information on goaltending stats without echoing the written tics of the troll. The comment was not screened for talking about goaltender stats, which is and has always been allowed on meme.
