Hi, I'm the nonnie that started the discussion on that fic (and also left another comment here on the mod post that's still screened if you want confirmation that I'm the same person, I used the word wankbait in the screened comment if that helps you ID it), and I've turned my proxy off now, so I hope this comment comes across as being made in good faith.

First off, I want to say that I completely understand you guys being aggressive in keeping this place tranquil-- this fandom has had some shitty, shitty anon spaces, and it makes total sense that you want to fend that off. Also, meme is not a democracy, and the mods here do a ton of hard work to maintain it, so I get that your modding decisions have to find a balance between curtailing anarchy and eating up all your free time.

All that being said, though, I'm deeply uncomfortable with the idea that literally any comment, no matter how benign, that's coming from a super common proxy method is going to be screened regardless of its content. I routinely use the free proxy that's included with my browser for security and site-testing reasons, and there are tons of good reasons why people might be using proxies in good faith-- not wanting to voice certain opinions while being tracked, living in a country where LJ is flat-out banned (as I did for a few years), living someplace where the kind of topics discussed on meme could get you in serious legal trouble if discovered, etc. If it's really going to cause all of my comments to be screened I guess I can start turning off my proxy before I come to deke, but I honestly find this really troubling as a wider policy-- I'm fine with you guys being way more aggressive with screening messages from proxy IPs, but screening totally innocuous stuff just on the basis of its IP doesn't sit right with me.

Thank you for all the work you do to maintain this space-- I may not agree with every one of your modding decisions, but I'm really grateful that you care enough to make them.
